- Drum Corp/Slaterettes- The Slater Center’s Drum Corp is in its 28th year of existence and has served over 1000 youth throughout its history. - Hudson Valley Pet Food Pantry, Inc- A community pet food pantry which distributes pet food the last Tuesday of each month. Applications can be picked up at the Slater Center and mailed to the address listed on the application. Call 914-907-3487 for more information and eligibility requirements.
- Urban Service of Greater Westchester Rebound Program-The purpose of this program is to assist individuals 17-25 years of age with employment assistance through pre-employment skill training workshops, vocational and college referral service and referrals to help clients obtain their G.E.D. - Narcotics Anonymous- Meets Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00pm-9:00pm
- Man-to-Man- A new program in the development stages to increase the positive involvement of the man in today’s society. To reduce incarceration, increase responsibility, to encourage and build up the man, assist with obtaining employment, financial literacy and many other factors pertaining to men.
Annual/Special Events
- Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Unity Breakfast- Proceeds raised at this annual event which celebrates the life and times of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, fund the mission of Slater.
- Fruit Sale- held in December of each year. Fresh, mouth watering, sweet, Florida navel oranges and Ruby Red grapefruits are sold at this annual event. Proceeds fund the mission of Slater.
- Annual Neighborhood Health Fair-Held annually in April in collaboration with White Plains Hospital, El Centro Hispano, Calvary Baptist Church and the American Cancer Society. Free health screenings are provided to over 500 men, women and children. Screenings include: prostate, breasts, cholesterol, diabetes, hypertension, dental, sickle cell and others.
- Kwanzaa-Annual celebration of the African American family, community and culture. Focusing on the Seven Principles of Kwanzaa which are: Umoja-Unity, Kujichagulia-Self Determination, Ujima-Collecitve Work and Responsibility, Ujamaa-Cooperative Economics, Nia-Purpose, Kuumba-Creativity and Imani-Faith. Held in collaboration with the Community Unitarian Church of White Plains, The White Plains Housing Authority, The White Plains Housing Authority Residents Council, White Plains Board of Education, The White Plains Youth Bureau, White Plains Juneteenth Heritage Committee, The YWCA of White Plains and ShopRite. This annual event is held one day during the Kwanzaa celebrated dates of December 26 through January 1st.
